Who We are
The Georgia Association of Nursing Students (GANS) welcomes all students who are pursuing a nursing career within the state of Georgia. Through membership, students gain access to leadership development, professional networking opportunities, educational resources, advocacy initiatives, and statewide engagement with fellow future nurses. GANS also awards scholarships and awards to students each year and is committed to supporting nursing students at every stage of their educational journey as they prepare to enter the nursing profession. Membership includes:
Nursing Students
Active students enrolled in a nursing program in Georgia that maintains an active constituent status with GANS and the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA), and/or is accredited.
Pre-Nursing Students
Enrolled pre-nursing students attending accredited institutions with active constituent status with GANS and NSNA, and who are preparing for admission into a nursing program.
The GANS Experience
"Nursing school is hard, but you were never meant to do it alone. GANS gave me a community that carried me through the toughest stretches of my program. Beyond the resources and the leadership experience, I walked away with confidence I didn't know I had and friendships I'll keep for life."
— Mahogany Rucker-Rogers, Former President, GANS
"When I joined GANS, I found so much more than study tips and resources, I found a group students who genuinely support each other, celebrate the wins, and get you through the tougher days. Knowing this community has my back makes tackling nursing school feel a whole lot less overwhelming."
— Olivia Melville, Publications Director, GANS
GANS Award Spotlight
The DAISY Award for Advancing Health Equity
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students is one of the most prestigious honors a nursing student can receive. It celebrates those who go beyond the classroom and clinical setting to demonstrate extraordinary compassion, leadership, and commitment to advancing health equity.
Last year marked a historic milestone—the very first time GANS presented the Student DAISY Award at our Annual Convention.
Each year moving forward, another student nurse will be recognized for making a lasting impact on patients, families, peers, and the nursing community. Nominees are student nurses who embody the values of empathy, advocacy, and clinical excellence outside the classroom—students who inspire others by their courage, service, and dedication to improving care for all.
Winning the DAISY Award connects the recipient to an international community of honorees who have been recognized for making a remarkable difference in nursing. The awardee will receive the same level of honor and recognition as practicing nurses who earn the DAISY Award, affirming the importance of nursing students as leaders of tomorrow, in addition to other honoree benefits.
